A total of 180 patients have so far benefited from free ultrasound scan services made possible by Bunyangabu County Member of Parliament Dr. Victor Kalenzi, in an effort to improve access to maternal and general diagnostic healthcare in the district.
During the 2026 election campaigns, Dr. Kalenzi pledged to donate an ultrasound machine to every sub-county in Bunyangabu and Since taking office, he has fulfilled part of that pledge by donating five ultrasound machines, complete with examination beds and ultrasound gel, to Kibiito Health Centre IV, Rwimi Health Centre IV, Kabonero Health Centre III, Buhesi Health Centre III, and Kyamukube Health Centre III.
While handing over the equipment recently, Dr. Kalenzi also pledged to facilitate qualified sonographers to operate the machines until Bunyangabu District Local Government recruits permanent staff.
According to Mumbere Joles, a radiographer operating the machines, Rwimi Health Centre III, where ultrasound services are offered every Tuesday, has attended to 66 patients in its first month of operation.
At Kabonero Health Centre III, where the services are conducted every Monday, 69 patients have been served.

Meanwhile, Buheesi Health Centre III officially launched its ultrasound services on Wednesday 22nd July 2026, recording 45 patients on the first day alone.

Mumbere noted that the figures include not only expectant mothers but also other patients who sought ultrasound examinations for various medical conditions, highlighting the increasing demand for diagnostic imaging services across the district.
The combined total of patients served at Rwimi, Kabonero, and Buhesi health facilities now stands at 180, underscoring the growing impact of the initiative in improving access to essential diagnostic services in Bunyangabu District.
