The Minister of State for Finance, Henry Musasizi, has responded to allegations made against him by the Bunyangabu District LC5 Chairperson, Ategeka James Mugarama, during the President’s visit to the district yesterday as part of his ongoing Presidential PDM tour.
Minister Musasizi stated that he does not know Chairman Mugarama, has never met him, spoken to him on the phone, or has he visited his office.
He instead labeled Mugarama as the liar, not himself, and questioned the motives behind the allegations.
The controversy stems from concerns raised by district leaders over an unfulfilled presidential pledge of UGX 4 billion meant for bridge maintenance in Bunyangabu.
According to Mugarama, when he followed up on the matter at the Ministry of Finance, Minister Musasizi allegedly responded that “the President lied” to the district.
In response, the President reaffirmed his commitment to special funding for bridge construction in Bunyangabu District, noting that the Shs. 1.3 billion allocated for road works annually is insufficient.
