Bunyangabu records 3 New Mpox Cases in a Week

Bunyangabu District has registered three new cases of Mpox in the past one week, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the district to ten.

This was revealed earlier today by the District Health Officer, Dr. Richard Obeti who stated that since the outbreak began, the cases have been reported in areas such as Kakinga Town Council, Kisomoro Sub-county, Rwagimba in Bukara, and Kasunganyanja, among others.

According to Dr. Obeti, four patients are currently under home-based care, while six have fully recovered.

He urged residents to strictly follow guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and healthcare workers to help prevent further spread of the disease.

Mpox can be transmitted through direct contact with the skin lesions, respiratory droplets, or bodily fluids of an infected person.

Dr. Obeti also advised residents to avoid close contact with individuals suspected of having Mpox or with infected animals and emphasized the importance of maintaining good hygiene and adhering to public health measures.
