Bunyangabu residents decry Lack of Service Delivery, Call 2021 Vote a Waste

By Immaculate

Residents of Bunyangabu District have expressed deep dissatisfaction with the lack of service delivery in their communities, calling their votes in the 2021–2026 general elections “wasted.”

Robert Baguma, a boda boda rider from Kibiito West Ward in Kibiito Town Council, cited poor road conditions—particularly the Kibiito-Kabonero road—as a major challenge. He noted that the deteriorating road is severely impacting transportation, especially for farmers and fellow boda boda riders.

Another resident, Sunday John, a carpenter from Mutiti B in Kabonero Sub-county, voiced concerns over the absence of essential services, including proper health facilities, schools, and roads. He explained that boda boda riders often struggle to transport pregnant mothers and agricultural produce due to the poor infrastructure.

John also highlighted the rising transport costs, stating that the fare between Kabonero and Kibiito has jumped from UGX 2,000 to UGX 10,000. This sharp increase has led to a decline in customer numbers, further affecting residents’ incomes.

Musiime Charles, the district councilor representing Kabonero Sub-county, urged residents to vote more responsibly in the upcoming 2026 general elections. He emphasized the need for better leadership from the village (LC1) level up to Members of Parliament to ensure improved service delivery and avoid such frustrations in the future.
