Corruption Blamed for Delayed Success of PDM in Bunyangabu

The delayed success of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Bunyangabu District has been attributed to corruption tendencies, particularly favoritism.

This observation was made by Kiiza Rubongoya Mugara, a retired public servant, during the launch of water for production irrigation scheme project held yesterday in Kangoma Village, Kabale Parish, Kibiito Sub-county.

Rubongoya cited an example of the PDM funds where beneficiaries are supposed to take shs.1 million at once and not in installments, emphasizing that PDM is designed to support low-income earners improve their household income.

However, She noted that because the funds are distributed in installments, they fail to make the intended impact.

She called upon the office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to work together in addressing corruption in the district.

Meanwhile, RDC Kamukama Nicholas called for peace during the Easter celebrations marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
