Residents of Bunyangabu District have been urged to make proper use of funds accessed through Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) and to repay loans promptly.
This message was delivered by the Chairperson of the Bunyangabu Constituency Market Vendors’ Emyooga SACCO, Mr. Nyakoojo Yusufu, on Monday afternoon during the SACCO’s Annual General Meeting held at the Kibiito Town Council headquarters.
Mr. Nyakoojo expressed concern that some members treat the SACCO funds as free money and fail to repay their loans. He strongly encouraged all members with outstanding debts to fulfill their repayment obligations to ensure the sustainability of the SACCO.
Established in 2021, the Bunyangabu Constituency Market Vendors’ Emyooga SACCO currently has 878 members, including 395 women, 324 men, 145 youth, and 14 persons with disabilities (PWDs).
During the meeting, Kisomoro Sub-county Community Development Officer (CDO), Ms. Kezabu Esther, encouraged members to buy more shares as a way of boosting the SACCO’s income. She also urged members to embrace government programs such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model (PDM) to improve their household incomes.
