Bunyangabu Politicians Urged to Avoid Hate Speech Ahead of 2026 Elections

Religious leaders in Bunyangabu District have called on politicians to refrain from hate speech and instead promote peaceful elections as the country prepares for the 2025/2026 polls.

Rev. Fr. Nyakatura Udaliko, the parish priest of Yerya, delivered this message yesterday while leading a mass at Mozet Nursery and Primary School in Kibiito Town Council. The service was dedicated to praying for the learners.

Fr. Nyakatura urged residents to embrace peaceful elections, expressing concern that some politicians have already begun clashing with their opponents before the official campaign period begins.

He advised political contenders to focus on their own manifestos rather than tarnishing the names of their rivals.

In addition to his call for political tolerance, Fr. Nyakatura encouraged parents to invest in their children’s education and urged pupils to respect their parents as a sign of discipline.

As the country moves closer to the election period, calls for peace and unity continue to be emphasized to ensure a smooth and fair electoral process.
