Bunyangabu District on Monday celebrated Water Day 2025 at Bukorakole Ground in Buheesi Sub County, with calls for improved sanitation practices in homes and communities.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Bunyangabu, Nicholas Kamukama, urged parents to be role models in promoting hygiene and sanitation.
The district water engineer, Robert Aheebwa, explained that Buheesi Sub County was chosen for the celebrations due to the ongoing sanitation campaign launched in December last year.
He further revealed that plans were underway to establish a gravity flow scheme in the sub-county but encouraged residents to be cooperative.
As part of the celebrations, outstanding community members who demonstrated excellence in home sanitation were recognized and awarded plastic water tanks, jerry cans, basins, soap, and other essential sanitation items.
The Assistant Water Officer, Sarah Kobusinge, stated that the awards were aimed at motivating others to follow suit.
